PD Yoon, the director of Love Rain revealed that there will be a director cut DVD coming out.

April 27th, at Sangsu-dong, Mapo-gu Seoul, KBS2 drama Love Rain did on site open filming. PD Yoon Suk Ho expressed that he had special feeling (nostalgia) towards 70’s part of the drama. He also said even the shooting of that part was slow, but he had put lots of emotions in it. So he would like to edit this part again and make DVD out of it.

“Love Rain” is a drama that combines 70’s analog era pure love and 2012 digital era modern fashion love (passion and romantic). The story goes over generations and crossed the time lines to narrative the nature of love.

PD Yoon said the 70’s love is more concentrate on “slow aesthetics”. He also said that he planned to make 10 episodes of 70’s part and would run through the young generation love story and middle age love story together. At the beginning, he planned to make 70’s part for 10 episodes, but at the end, they only edited 4 episodes of it. They shot lots of very beautiful scenes (means the parts that didn’t show in the 70’s part as drama aired), so he will make a DVD out of it.

Since September to December last year, he used 4 months to shoot 70’s love part in Keimyung University, Daegu. He said he has put lots of energy to shoot 70’s love story part that really showed 70’s romance – “the fond of memories is hard to let it go”. He also said: “The pace was slow, but that was how it was and I didn’t want to change it but keep it as it was. Compare to just follow the modern steps I would rather to put all my efforts to make something that I want.” He said: “In Japan, for some important friends I gave out “Winter Sonata” DVD as gift. That means to treasure all the feelings, music and scenes in the work. This time I will do the same thing to Love Rain. This drama will not be just an electrical wave pass through, but more like a prepared gift for someone you like. Then he/she will remember this works for a very long time.”

Actor Jang Keun Suk is the victim of a half destroyed car accident, but he was soon back to the set of KBS2 “Love Rain”.

According to his agency, Tree J Company, JKS had a car accident near Yeoju on the way to Seoul after filming “Love Rain” at Mangsang Beach in Kangwon-do. The accident took place at around 5am. The car was partially destroyed hitting a guardrail settled on the road where below is cliffs, but, fortunately, it really was a close call with serious physical injury.

In the half collapsed car, there were four people. JKS was sitting in the front seat. His manager (MJ) drives the car. The executive of Tree-J company and the other manager were in the backseat. JKS tipped his chair back and was sleeping with fastening his seat-belt at that time. JKS didn’t get traumatic injury, but he suffered from pain of a bruise.

The agency stated, ”God helping them! I can’t thank God enough to avert a catastrophic accident. And it was fortunate that the car wasn’t a van. It was JKS’ own car. If it had been a van, it would have fallen down the cliff over the guardrail. ”, sighing with the relief of their return.

Despite such a big accident, he headed for the shooting set of “Love Rain” after a short 2-hour sleeping in Seoul. The agency official said, “He didn’t go to hospital not to cause trouble to the crew. We asked him to go even if he felt he was OK. We know the injury isn’t get not only physically but also mentally. But he chose shooting.”

This accident was expected human disaster. JKS has had murderous schedule nearly for a week. For example, he finishes shooting at 5am and soon starts again at 7am. Even for this two-hour rest, he had to spend this for a beauty salon, so that he didn’t take a real rest at all. Such a tight schedule fatigued his managers, too.

The agency said, “Now he’s on the set. After finishing the shooting, he can go to hospital. But he won’t go during the opening hours.” and sighed sadly.

Another case happened last July was that Yoo Seung Ho who appeared on SBS TV “Warrior Baekdongsu” also had a car accident on the way to shooting. After the accident, he decided to go to the set, but he was sent to an emergency room for treatment by the crew.

On April 24, the OST for Love Rain is scheduled to be released. The album will contain twelve tracks including Jang Keun Suk’s Love Rain, Tiffany’s Because It’s You and more. Already proving to be a major successful soundtrack, it was revealed pre-order sales for the album had already surpassed 20,000 copies.

[News] JKS kept Ha Seok-jin company at Ha’s father’s funeral

Actor Ha Seok-jin’s father, aged 56, passed away on 12 April 2012 at home. When police arrived, Ha’s father had hung himself. The father had suffered from heart problems and also depression.

Ha Seok-jin and Jang Keun Suk are both Hanyang University’s alumni with a good relationship well known in the entertainment scene. According to sources, JKS is currently busy with filming Love Rain but after hearing the news, JKS’ filming ended at 5 am and thereafter he went straight to the funeral parlour to keep Ha company and offer his condolences.

Jang Keun Suk Transforms Into a Photographer for ‘Love Rain’

On the upcoming April 9 episode of KBS’ Love Rain, a new love story will be revealed between Girls’ Generation’s Yoona and Jang, the photographer, now set in 2012. Just like the switch from the analogue to digital age in the drama, the two actors will display a 180 degree transformation for Love Rain,as the characters take on a new role within the drama. Jang, who portrayed the passive Seo In Ha in the past, will now take on the role of Seo Joon, the confidant man who can win over any girl in three seconds. It marks a complete turn-around from the soft-spoken and warm Seo In Ha character Jang portrayed in the 1970s setting and 2012’s Seo Joon, who pays no heed to the attention of others. Seo Joon is described as a temperamental but merit-filled individual.

For his role as Seo Joon, Jang studied and followed the actions and movement of other photographers, showing Jang’s seriousness in his acting.

A member of Love Rain’s production said, “Even the production staff was surprised by Jang’s transformation. We feel the professional Jang Keun Suk, who is similar to the Seo Joon character, will be able to fully display his character’s merits. It will be good to anticipate the new character.”

The advertisements for the first and second episodes of Jang Geun-seok’s KBS 2TV drama “Love Rain” have been sold out. Interest in the drama can be proven by pre-sale to Japan, follow up on 350 domestic and foreign press as well as advertisement sales.

The first and second episodes of “Love Rain” for a total of 72 minute each can sell 28 advertisements in an episode. The advertisement cost for a KBS 2TV mini series after 10PM is 13.2 million hundred Won. “Love Rain” has made a total of 739.2 million Won (13,200,000 x 28 x 2 episodes ~ US$700,000).

Other than Jang Geun-seok is Yoona from Hallyu leader Girls’ Generation. This is also the come back project of Yoon Seok-ho from “Winter Sonata” and “Autumn in my Heart”.

The Korea Broadcasting System said, “Advertisement sales has happened the fastest out of all KBS 2TV mini series in the last 6 months.
