Actor Jang Geun-suk received the Seoul Mayor’s Award in recognition of his large-scale sponsorship contribution.
An official from the international relief and development NGO World Vision said on Sep 6th, “Jang Geun-suk, a large-scale sponsor, received the Seoul Mayor’s Award at the 2022 Seoul Social Welfare Contest (hosted by the Seoul Social Welfare Council) in commemoration of the 23rd Social Welfare Day.”
The Seoul Mayor’s Award is a system that selects and awards sponsors, volunteers, welfare facility workers or groups who are role models for society by practicing neighborly love.
Jang Geun-suk, who received the award at the 2022 Seoul Social Welfare Contest held at Seoul Metropolitan Government on Sep 5th, shared his thoughts, “Starting with the sponsorship of 5 children in 2009, I’m now twinned with 100 children. As a person who cares about children, I’ll fulfill my social responsibilities and strive to create a healthier society.”
Jang Geun-suk has been actively participating in donation activities after forming a relationship with World Vision since 2009. In particular, he worked hard to support medical expenses and educational projects for children in energy poverty and critical situations in Korea.
World Vision Chairman Cho Myung-hwan said, “We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Jang Geun-suk, who has delivered consistent interest and good influence to children in need for 13 years. We will do our best to bring love to many children.”
