First of all, it seems playing DVDs you own for your personal purpose is not allowed at restaurant. Even playing your CDs is not allowed freely. You need to get the permission for the use.

Thank you Tenshi for taking the trouble to research this . Sorry for not clarifying the region, -but I live in India. I think the right way to go about this is as you pointed out, to obtain permission for playing his DVD. As the project is nearing completion I shall apply for permission from the copyright holder, and from Universal music. There are numerous restaurants and bars here that play a lot of rock music and videos. I shall get in touch with them to find out how they are functioning and what procedures they have followed.
