Actor Jang Keun Suk was appointed as a PR ambassador of a huge media art exhibition on artist Van Gogh, ‘VAN GOGH INSIDE: Festival of Light and Music’.

JKS played a rock band vocalist of ‘Active Volcano’, Hyeon-jun from movie ‘The Happy Life’, and a genius trumpet player, Kang Gun-woo from drama ‘Beethoven Virus’. In addition, through drama ‘You’re Beautiful’ and ‘Mary Stayed Out All Night’, he showed his own music talent fully. And in drama ‘Love Rain’, he played passionately a university student of art, Seo In-ha in 1970s.

Like these, as JKS has been very active in various art fields such as acting and music, the collaboration with ‘Van Gogh Inside’ that has given new impacts to the audience, showing new aspects to break what we believed or expected as an established theory will be more unique. That is worthy of attention.

Jang Keun Suk, who’s been interested in impressionist art since before, said as follows. “I accepted this offer as I thought this ‘VAN GOGH INSIDE’ is a good exhibition to attract not only art lovers but ordinary people. Usually, the normal art exhibition requires advanced knowledge of the philosophy and historical background of each work to appreciate the art fully. It’s a bit tough for us. On the other hand, this art exhibition is made up as a media art. Therefore, we can approach very well-known art works in a unique way. As I was appointed the PR ambassador, I’d like to play the role well to appeal this great art exhibition beyond South Korea, throughout Asia.”

‘VAN GOGH INSIDE: Festival of Light and Music’ is scheduled to be held from January 8th to April 17th at Cultural Station Seoul 284 (the former Seoul Station building). JKS is going to play the PR ambassador, attending the press conference held on January 11th, at Cultural Station Seoul 284 and so on.

  6. I am looking forward to this exhibition. Trusting Korean innovation in presenting Van Gogh Inside out. I learned to appreciate modern music like rap from Korean series with traditional theme. I admire Korean’s innovative presentation of fine arts either visual or music and aural arts. With support from my Sugar, Van Gogh’s art work would be known more among the younger generation. Thanks to Jang Keun Suk and the project group that chose him.

  7. Thank you for this translation and article!

Somehow – I associate him more with the works of Chagall than with Van Gogh…..but then – as the article points out – JKS will be presenting another viewpoint of Van Gogh rather than the currently held one….I am sure the event wil be packed with people because he will be there….
