Singer and actor Jang Geun Suk is returning to the screen for the first time since his enlistment. In the new series ‘The Bait’ from Coupang Play, Jang Geun Suk plays a former lawyer turned detective named Goo Do Han.
On the subject of his return to the screen, he said, “I debuted when I was young and I have been working non-stop. The past five years have been a time to fill myself up. ‘The Bait’ is the first project where I can show everyone what I have filled and emptied myself of during my hiatus.”
At the press conference for ‘The Bait’ on January 25 Jang Geun Suk stated, “Through this project, I wanted to break free from the usual appearance I’ve shown thus far.” As such, through ‘The Bait’ fans will be able to see Jang Geun Suk put aside his pretty or handsome image he’s known for, and embrace a darker and grittier look.
‘The Bait’ is a crime thriller that traces the secrets surrounding a criminal who is known to have died while escaping after committing a fraud of 5 trillion won and being identified as a murder suspect.
Jang Geun Suk will be joined by actor Heo Sung Tae who will play the role of a fraudster named Noh Sang Cheon.
