Jang Geun Suk promised he would return to K-dramas this year, and it looks like his promise may become a reality soon! The actor is currently considering an offer to star in Daebak, an upcoming SBS historical series about gambling. Im Ji Yeon and Yeo Jin Goo are also considering roles.

describe Daebak as a Joseon Era version of the classic K-drama All In, starring Lee Byung Hyun and Song Hye Gyo. If Jang Geun Suk accepts, he will play a prince forced to live as a commoner. He becomes Joseon’s best card shark and uses his gambling skills to challenge his rival, the king.

Yeo Jin Goo is up to play a fictionalized young version of King Yeongjo. As the villain of the series, he is cunning and competitive. Im Ji Yeon is considering a role as a woman determined to kill the king and exact revenge for a longstanding grudge against the royal family.

If Jang Geun Suk accepts, this will be his first drama since Pretty Man in 2013. Do you think a sageuk is a god choice for his comeback? What do you think of Yeo Jin Goo testing out a villainous role? Share your thoughts in the comments!

  2. I love sageuk!! Wasn’t JKS saying something several months ago about how he had take Korean language classes again for a “historical drama” he was doing or something? I guess the language styles used in historical dramas must be more formal…Whether it is modern or historical I would love to see him in a drama again….although I prefer historical….but at this point, I just want to see him in a drama!!
