First of all I would like to thanks JKSFOREVER for this opportunity to share my thought about this episode. I am just going to use layman terms here coz of my vocabulary limitation. Pardon my grammatical error.
In this episode, we have In Ha proposing to Yoon Hee for marriage and Hana discovering the relationship between her mother and Joon’s father. Hana is shocked upon knowing it and she is now in distress as to what is the best thing to do. What I like here is they did not overdo the reaction of Hana in that situation, and it is very natural. Joon and Hana’s conversation at the restaurant is very touching. Hana’s teary eyes when she sees In Ha and Yoon Hee sitting on the bench after the proposal is perfect.
When Hana talks to Sun Ho, she said: “If there is something I really want but if I have it I may hurt other people around me.” From that line Hana cannot be fully happy now about what is going on with her mother. Let us face it, people has innate selfishness. Why did I say this, we tend to do what pleases us most though sometimes we do not have any choice. In this case Hana’s heart wants Joon but her logic thinks it is best to give her mother happiness. Her reasoning is going to last temporarily because I believe in the power of LOVE. Joon and Hana’s love is in the stage of honeymoon, at this period their feelings toward each other are very strong, they are still in the spell of being in love and this feeling is hard to suppress especially if they are still around each other. Just like what Joon did, he runs back for Hana and intends to tell the truth, hoping for Hana to choose him. In time they will stand up for their love. (Let us think positive to lessen our heartbreak 🙂 )
I adore how Joon handles the situation in a mature way. He lets Hana be and just stays beside her. For Joon, what matter most is what Hana wants, and what she thinks. Oh, how great is the love of Joon! The scene and the lines of Joon to Hana “It’s ok. It’s ok now. I won’t force you to make a decision. Let’s break up. And if we see each other again, let’s pretend that we’re strangers.” it breaks my heart. Love does endure.
As for In Ha and Yoon Hee’s relationship, I am happy at what is going on between them but sad at the same time because it was at the expense of their children’s happiness. Actually, I sympathize more with the senior couple, they have nothing except the love that they cherish more than anything. Their love before has not materialized and now that it is almost in their hands it might shatter again if they discover the relationship of their children. I believe that with In Ha and Yoon Hee’s personality, they cannot bear their children to suffer because of them. A parent’s heart will always be a parent. We have a saying that “Children may forsake their parents but parents cannot forsake their children”. Even Hye Jung cannot say no to Joon when he asks her to call the Hotel to reinstate Yoon Hee. At least somehow Hye Jung has a little heart for Joon.
Love Rain is such beautiful love story with complicated situation. It gives me headache and heavy heart since episode 11 but I am intrigued how the writer will play out each lead character.
[End]
Let’s put our trust to the power of love, esp parent’s love to their children. Hehe, thanks sist nunna 🙂
i hope so.. kekeke 🙂 that their love won’t end in tragedy.. and PD Yoon change his trademark to make it different from his other drama.. 🙂
I’m also hoping the kids would end up in marriage. I think PD Yoon is a great fan of Romeo & Juliet and all those great love stories with tragic moments. And its so obvious how he included Love Story ( the movie) as one the plots in this drama. But if it would have a tragic ending, I will just hang on the thought how this drama is beautifully written, acted and mounted in all aspects. The cinematography is really excellent, you can see every details of the mood in each situation even in a very crowded place. And I’m rooting for many awards of Sukkie and Yoona. I admit, at the beginning of this drama, I had a lot of doubts how she will fare with Sukkie, but as the plot thickens she had shown her great potential of becoming a real actor not only an idol, and its a vindication of the negative comments about her acting prior to LR.
It’s melodrama… and it’s Korean Melodrama… has to get worse before it can get better.
Seo Jun and Ha Na must suffer for their love as their parents did before them. *shrug*
I hope, however, that we can still get a happy ending for both couples.
yes, let’s hope for the best… one thing I noticed in this drama.. it is not only depict the love from ’70 and new generation but seems to me that it shows also how the love story drama done before and at present.. and all dramas has its angst whether it is comedy or not and it’s meet there.. so I am thinking that the seniors will get the tragic end than the younger couple.. just my feeling but still in the hands of the writer..
I am really expecting that one of them dies, its either In Ha or Yoon Hee. Try to watch again episode 7 or 8 when In Ha gave a lecture to his students about the painting about a family and the wife died before the baby was born. He mentioned about the greatest love is something that ends with death. It seems is a forshadowing of a tragic ending of In Ha=Yoon Hee love story. But I have a feeling that its In Ha who will die first, because if you have noticed it seems that from episode 1 to 4. it looks like it was a story narrated from In Ha’s journal. That for me it is Joon who might be reading that journal. And I have great hopes that Joon & Ha Na will end up together despite all the trials based on many symbolisms associated with some of the plot devices. For me when Ha Na put that ring on Joon’s finger is a sign that there is a possible wedding that will happen to them.
Migrap thanks for sharing your beautiful thoughts on EPI 13. This episode kills my heart. Yes Ha Na did not over do her acting when she knew the real reason why Joon broke up with her, but the subtle nuances and their complete silence while traveling going back to Seoul would let you feel how heavy their hearts. I really cried a lot watching their drinking session, the sad eyes with a smile and their lingering look. Now I see the greater importance of that the dividing bookshelf with a peephole as a plot device. Oh poor Joon, despite the very unlikely situation still hang on for the possiblity for them to be together. And its so heartbreaking when they hugged for the last time and agreed to break up and pretend to be strangers when ocassions arise that they will meet. I’m already looking forward for the next heart wrenching moments of this drama.
Thanks Daryl.. yeah, the way they face the shocking truth was not over do.. that is what I like in this episode but you can feel their hurt in just their silence.. PD Yoon is really a great director.. the scene that Joon said to Hana that I won’t let you choose.. let’s break up.. this is the moment I really felt that the break up now was for real because they both already know the truth.. it gives me a heavy heart and until now I can’t watch Ep14 with sub.. my heart can’t still take the sadness.. I need air to breath before watching it…
You watch EP 14. Yup its so heart wrenching, but you will be amazed more of Sukkie & Yoona’s acting. The more you will lappreciate how Love Rain is beautifully written. I love how they made those unexpected twists.
could it be possible that Joon and Hana cannot end up together because they would be overcome with guilt that their union were at the expense of their parents’ lives? I feel devasted just by writing this………
That could be possible, and both would learn to let go. And to be honest with it, that is the essence of that tag line ” Love means never say sorry “. Though they may not together in marriage but it does not mean the love has gone. And we can see how the writer made a parallel lives of the father and the son, same with the mother and the daughter.
hi migrap, just a random question do you happen to know the title song on the break up scene of Hana and Joon? Thanks!
