It´s not easy for me make this recap for episode 6. I feel too many emotions and cry a lot for the bad luck of Dae Gil. I thought that the worst part was in episode 5 and I Believe that all would be fine in this episode but I was wrong. My poor Dae Gil T^T
—
The episode begins with Dae Gil who lost his memory. Hong Mae finds it is very convenient for her and she decides to sell the boy as a slave, with the condition that Dae Gil can’t be allowed to return to Hanyang without her permission. The person Who buy Dae Gil, is not a good person is a demon, in fact that is how they call it. A man despicable who bought him for 5 nyang.
Our Prince (as in the story he is a Prince So I can call him Prince ^^) is seen by a doctor. At that moment I thought that everything would be better. He would heal and would not be mistreated as much as in the previous episode. Yes, I was so innocent I know. U.u
Dae Gil spits the coin that he has stuck in his throat. The doctor said that He would take the nyang as a payment. But a slave picks up the coin. She is a pretty Girl and her name is Gae Seo-Rim.
Dae Gil recovers from his injuries and while doing so Seo-Rim explains what life is in that place. It is the hell on earth. Slaves are sold for very little money. Even when they work a lot trying to pay their freedom is not enough. They all end up dying. Some of them are flogged and die, others starved to death. And it will be their fate if both cannot be free.
And this is where I start to suffer for my prince again. The demon sees that Dae Gil is feeling better and he wants to force Him to sign a paper. The paper says Dae Gil is his slave because he owes 45 nyang. Dae Gil refused to stamp her finger there and for that reason he is brutally beaten (I cannot describe that scene without suffering with him OMG It was too much pain). Dae Gil has to thumbprint against his will after the demon crushes cruelly his wrist.
He begins to work even though he is wounded and sick. You can see his suffering, his pain and confusion. Dae Gil lost his memory so he doesn’t understand why his life is a nightmare. It truly breaks your heart to see Dae Gil so hurt and broken, working tirelessly and so hungry that he eats a snake and I don´t speak about that because it was…..yuck! xD By the way This is the first time that Dae Gil sees Kim Chae Gun (who pointed out the poisonous snake wanted bite him.). But for us it not the first time, we saw him before, in the end of episode 5…
A lot of terrible things happen in that place but the worst is when the demon tries to rape Seo Rim . Dae Gil save her like a hero and throws her attacker off. They try to escape and run away into the woods. Seo Rim is tired and cannot run faster so she tells him to go on his own but he refused it. But they both turn toward the terrible sound of growling, to see a tiger prowling toward them. Dae Gil tells her to run away while he is going to stay and deal with the tiger, using only a stick. The tiger attacked him but is cut down by Kim Chae Gun, the mysterious man from the forest. Kim Chae Gun warns him to return from where he came because in this mountain there’s a threat worse than the tiger.
I really want to know who he is ^.^ For the way that Chae Gun is dressed (in the same way that Dae Gil is dressed in the promotional posters) I can say that Maybe he will be Dae Gil´s master… mmm we will have to wait for see what happens
It was hard for me to see this part. Really it was so cruel! They beaten and humiliated him again. (And Jang Keun Suk acts all this scenes so disturbingly realistic. He is a terrific actor! And if anyone has doubts, in these episodes Keun Suk showed them how amazing he is. ) But all this torture helps him remembering part of his memory. Especially, when “the demon” makes him swallow the coin again. Dae Gil spits the coin out and he remembers his father, how he died and who killed him. It was very touching see him cry because all the pain and anger came back.
And here we see a familiar scene for us. The end of episode 5, when we see him buried up to his head . And how Chae Gum help him with food ( he helps Dae Gil to eat a small crab xD) and gave him some water. Dae Gil asks if Chae Gum would like to make a bet on whether he’ll live or die. Chae Gum answers: “You should live” and leaving him there. but Dae Gil know he cannot die until he’s taken revenge on Injwa.
Dae Gil is brought back into the presence of their “owner”. As he sees that despite the torture the boy spirit remains strong. The demon decides burn his eyes and break his legs and arms. Fortunately Baek Dae Gil convinces the demon that he can bring him a lot of money and demonstrates his gambling skills.
And this is my favourite part in this episode… He takes a bath hahahaha. We can see him half naked and Seo Rim too xD and we know how Seo Rim ended up as a slave, Her father bet her before he died. Poor girl u.u
I think Seo-Rim really likes Dae Gil. She tried to help him when stopped him to not get in troubles, she always made sure Dae Gil had rice to eat (so cute of her) and She wore the Nyang as a necklace, as something precious to her. Although he has to witness terrible things in that place, he has the smile of this girl that helps him to moving forward. And of course he is her savior, her hero. They are developing a special bond that I think we will see later what will happen with it.
Well in the end Dae Gil plays cards with In Jwa. Dae Gil loses the game but he claims In Jwa cheated. The demon check and find In Jwa has hid a card inside the sleeve. Now, according to the rules of the gambling house, In Jwa’s hand has to be cut. When the demon is about to cut off In Jwa’s hand with an ax, the episode ends.

Personal opinion:
It was too much for me two whole episodes of Dae Gil being relentlessly harmed. I understand that Dae Gil has to suffer a lot because he has to change his character. But for me, It was enough what happened in episode 5.
I think that it was not necessary all these terrible things had to happen to Dae Gil in episode 6.( for example when They threw him into the latrine)
Despite all this, it was a great episode, very intense. And you can see how talented Jang Keun Suk is as an actor. Brilliant! I can´t wait to see the next episode ^^ [END]
Thanks for sharing sis, episode 6 didn’t only prepare viewers to the new Dae Gil but proved who Jang Keun Suk, the actor, is….love this ep…
Yes… When my first seeing episode 6, I was too shocked to see many painful scenes. But my second seeing with English subs, I was prepared and could appreciate his superb acting well.
Thanks for sharing this with us.. This ep is the best ep for me so far.. We can see how Gaed Dong became the strong and fierce Dae Gil. All the painful experiences he had been through made him what he became today. Great acting by actor Jang. I believe his acting here won’t be easily forgotten by the viewers. I just hope Dae Gil won’t to experience the physical abused again.. I don’t know if my heart can take it anymore
Thank you Pam for sparing me pictures and details of that snake scene! I hope this episode is the last Sukkie has to suffer and he will outsmart the whole lot of them especially Lee In Jwa!
You´re welcome 😉 I hope the next episode Dae Gil have a better time…because It´s difficult for me see how much he suffer.
Lee In Jwa ¬¬ He deserves the worst for all the bad things he did.
5 & 6 eps were very painfull for all the eels (And sorry but i also felt very bad for the poor snake) But at the end seeing my handsome daegil chosing gambling rather than beating was the best. Our “dumb Geddong” has now changed into a “witty Daegil”…. I liked Seo Rim a lot and their bonding. Their chemistry rocks even with just few shots but she will be heartache at the end being the 2nd lead. This is actually JKS spell that he makes best couple even with the 2nd leads (in YAB, MMM, LR) as for my personal opinion. Lastly i love my prince more and more for his passion and great acting. Hats off to you my dear.
I think in that times they was very wild about rules , very sadistic .
But I like how DeGil was playing cards with JINWA .
I hope his nice friendship with that girl to be in in the future ,she sad to don`t forget her .
Thank you for sharing with us .
Thank you for the review and I agree with how difficult it is for us eels to see DaeGil go through so much in these past 2 episodes. Another eel -(at Eel’s Family – they are also recapping the episodes – excellently):
recapped Episode 5 and 6 and it is also fabulous – but she explains about how all his escaping death..is really mainly to show that he has a very strong “fate” – and that until he is there to accomplish whatever he is to do…he will survive.
The second thing I want to mention is that during the bath scene in Episode 6, when he is shirtless, look on his upper left chest- yes there is a dark mole/birthmark.
Remember way back when Jang Ok Jung was accusing Baek Man Geum and Choi Suk Bin that they were married and the baby is proof – the 2 baby nurses say that – this child is not Prince Yeon Soo – it is in fact another child – because the child lacks the telltale birthmark on the chest (that Dae Gil has).
I guess in ep 5 and 6, we were challenged to differentiate Sukkie as a person and as an actor. Its really hard though. And its all because his outstanding acting. Thank you Pam..
You´re welcome ^^ I’m glad you like it
Thanks for the review, Pam.
I really hope that poor Daegil will no longer suffer any more merciless torture and punishment after Episode 6. What I would like to see soon is some romance to ease the suffocating intensity thus far.
I read somewhere that the slave girl, Gye Seol Im, later succeeds in becoming a sought-after gisaeng. She will be in a complicated loveline with Daegil. Hmmm..is there going to be a love triangle between Daegil, Dam Seo and Seol Im? Can’t wait to find out.
You´re welcome ^^
I like Seo Rim for Dae Gil :3 and
I really want to see him become the “Dae Gil” of the first Episode. I know he has a lot to learn but I can’t wait for that!

Well, ya, these two episodes were really tough, but it was the first time I felt that there was no longer Sukkie but the character. His acting was so good, God, it’s such a long time since I dreamt seeing Sukkie acting like this. He was into the character so well, no, in fact he was Dae-Gil and I was so drawn into the story as if I was Dae-Gil, feeling all that pain and hate that at the end I found myself trembling and screaming “Cut damn his hand off! Why are you hesitating?”. I was trembling, I was sweating because, ya, I have to admit, that movie is soooo good, the scenario is excellent and the acting is superb. The scenes are well linked with each other and the story flows smoothly, without interruptions in a logic manner, ensuring thus increased interest in the viewer for what would be next. No matter how much you squeeze your brain to guess the next scene, you simply can’t anticipate it, but you’re dying of impatience to see the next episode. And that is for me, the definition of a good movie. When everything (actors, scenario, producer, etc) is well set up to keep my interest high throughout all the movie. Fighting, keep up the good work!!!
a very painful episode and it’s really an amazing act of sukkie that I ever seen for him,I could not really imagine how he can endured everything even though its only an act but still he got bruises
