An impromptu trip decided on the Sunday, 2 days prior to flying, and everything booked within hours of the decision to go.
There wasn’t any JKS show or fan meeting going on, nor was there any TeamH concert or Produce 101 live recording. It started with a simple mindset – to support our prince’s upcoming drama Daebak, and to see all the support adverts from eels over the world with our own eyes.
Our simple wish was fulfilled pretty quickly (and easily) as soon as we touched down in Seoul Incheon International airport.
Daebak advertisement greeted us as soon as we got out from the immigration area after claiming our luggage.
Within the day we got to see various other support adverts in train station and on trains. It warms our hearts each time we see an advert – every single one reflecting eels’ love and support to our prince, cheering him on from various countries across the globe.
On the day of the press conference, our hearts were filled with excitement as we made our way to SBS HQ in MokDong. Finally we get the see the “fruit of all eels’ labor” – our rice wreath support from Eels’ Club International (ECI) and jangkeunsukforever.com blog. The rice wreath support is truly a meaningful event as the donations will go out to bless the less fortunate, and at the same time, it acts as a messenger conveying messages from eels to our Prince. We have eels spanning across 6 continents from 80 countries, as much as it is always an eel’s dream to attend our Prince’s show, yet to some, it could be logistically challenging to do so, hence, the rice wreath event provides an avenue for them to showcase their support publicly.
You can read here on ECI and jangkeunsukforever.com rice wreath.
As we walked through the many rice wreaths for JKS, the feeling is beyond words. Every word, every support phrase, every picture speaks of every eel’s sincere wish for JKS. I was overwhelmed – speechless by the quantity of rice wreaths – they didn’t fit the hall and had to be lined outside along the walkway towards the main entrance to the hall. I was touched – to see many countries all over the world represented, sending their individual rice wreaths to support JKS. I was proud – proud to be called an eel, proud to be JKS’s eel, proud of the comradery bond between eels and with JKS.

We began to see eels lining up in the hallway. It never once crossed my mind when I decided to make this trip that I will be able to see him in person. I knew the press conference is limited to invited guests and the press only, so I had thought he would be heading up to the press conference hall through some secret passage. So, if he really walks down the hallway through the rice wreaths, we really hit the JACKPOT for this trip!! Super unexpected bonus!! Daebak!!
We joined the eels lining up along the hallway. I was surprisingly calm during the wait. Maybe part of me is still in doubt if I will really get to see him. During the wait, someone approached us to record a cheering message for the drama. I didn’t think too much into it then, as I was kind of in a trance, there is only one thing in my head – support Daebak, support JKS! So, we went ahead with the recording, only to find out later we appeared in the SBS PD note, LOL (see here)
We saw actor Yeo Jin Goo and actress Lim Ji Yeon walked in, and at the moment, my heart started beating really fast. “He probably will…he has to….he WILL BE walking down this hallway!!!” – it suddenly dawned on me. Shortly, I heard some commotion, and saw his car drove past outside. He has arrived!!
How I wish time could have stood still the moment he appeared! He had his sunglasses on as he stepped into the building. There were no security guards with him, only YoungDuk and GSM on his left and right respectively. He was wearing a slight smile as he walked briskly through the crowd, waving to eels at times. During that less-than-one-minute moment with him, I have no recollection of what was happening around me, all I did was looked at him, and quietly followed him as he walked pass the crowd. I managed to take this video, it wasn’t too well taken, in fact for the most part you will only see his back, but I was contented, happy with that 1 second when he walked past me.

After our lunch, we headed back to SBS to take more pictures of the rice wreaths. Soon, we started seeing lines forming near the lift lobby area. The lines of eels led right up to Crij’s rice wreath. We joined the crowd and waited.
He appeared again! This time without his sunglasses. I managed to take a picture of him as he posed in front of Crij’s rice wreath.
I was in such a daze admiring how smart and handsome he looked in that tailored cut jacket, totally absorbed by his every move and action, while at the same time being pushed along by eels as he walked towards Japan OFC’s rice wreath. I was standing near the doorway as he walked towards the exit after photo shooting. I had a very good view of him, and made sure I didn’t blink as he walked past me (guess I probably DID blink after all, as I have no memory of that split second when he walked past me?!) We saw him got on the car and I waved goodbye to him from the pavement.
Side note:
We managed to retrieve our banners from Dreame after the event and took these precious beautiful banners home 🙂
