Jang Keun Suk appeared in SBS Power FM ‘Kim Chang-Ryul’s old school (radio show)’ aired on January 6th in Korea as a special guest. It takes time to release the whole translation of what he said in the radio as it was about 50 minutes long, so we’re going to share the summary sharing in media articles first here.

“This year I will be more active in Korea than before. My next drama project has been decided”
DJ Kim Chang-Ryul asked him ”Which do you have more fans, in Korea or abroad?” JKS answered “More fans abroad. I’m not for domestic consumption, but for export. However, I’m going to focus on working in Korea from now. I want to try everything such as dramas and movies targeted at Korean people. Above all, I’m most interested in radio show.” There was a reaction from Korean fans, saying “You’re not a star for export!” Reading their messages, JKS said “My Korean fans are a bit sensitive about this topic.”
And he shared his latest news in everyday life, “It was the right time to reflect on myself last year to set my new goal. I go to graduate school, taking a M.A. and Ph.D program.”
In addition, he revealed, “My next drama project has been decided. I don’t know when I can tell you the details now, but I can say again I’ll focus on working in Korea this year.”

“I want to hold a summer festival this year”
JKS shared one of his this year’s plans. “I want to hold a summer festival. Actually I did 3 years ago. It looks more fun to hold it outside in nature, pouring water from the stage and singing outside.”
Kim Chang-Ryul described JKS as follows, “I had a friendly image toward him although he’s now a very big star. Generally speaking, a big star is weighty, so s/he is apt to be difficult to approach, looks far from the public. In response of Kim’s talk, JKS added jokingly “I’m the lightest of all stars.” Kim admitted it, “You’re right. JKS is light as a feather. Lol.”
JKS shared his unique way to call his fans. “I named my fans eels. For me, fans are like eels that are nutritious and gives me good energy.” JKS said, “A feeling of nostalgia filled my heart when I entered this studio after a couple of years. It was really good memories. I want to give a lot of good energies to others in 2016.”

“I don’t own cars under my name. All are on lease.”
JKS revealed his honest feeling when he sees related words with his name on the internet.
Kim Chang-Ryul gave us some examples ‘JKS supercar’ ‘JKS building’ and so on… JKS said, “I still feel a bit strange, but when searching my name on the internet, I see ‘JKS property’ ‘JKS building’ etc. I can say clearly here that all cars I drive is not owned under my name. I rent them.” JKS added, “In fact, I have property under my name. But my parents take care of them. They’re blocking so that I can’t use the money. It’s really tough.”
Mr. Kim described JKS as follows. “I’m afraid many people consider you rude and cheeky. What do you think attracts people most?” JKS answered, “The more they see me, the more they are addicted to me!” JKS added, “It seems people consider me cocky, eating pumpkin soup at home, instead of ramen. The reason may be I was more active overseas, which caused a　sense of distance with Korean people. But, I’m just an immature young man. Such a prejudiced idea motivates me to clear up the misunderstanding.”

“When I debuted as a kid model, I accepted the offer of underwear CF shooting to make ends meet”

JKS introduced an episode when he started working as a kid star.
Kim Chang-Ryul asked him, “You said your goal when you decided to debut was money, but what is your current goal?” JKS answered “They are time and relationship between people.”
He said, “To tell the truth, my father’s business failed in past. After that, my parents had to find new jobs to earn money. Father became a taxi driver. Mother became a dishwasher. I was taken a photo of an underwear my friends made fun of me. Like these, we’ve lived so far. At the beginning of my debut, I did anything just for money. I believed it’s a way to save my family. But, I’ve come to think that even with 10,000 won in a pocket, I’d be happy if I have someone around me whom I can share a small meal.” He added, “I never expected to be given such big love. Therefore, I feel responsible for that. I’ve been thinking how I can return what I was given. The theme of my special lecture at university is charity. I continue making a donation, too.”

“A song ‘PROPOSE’ I sang caused misunderstanding that I have a girlfriend”
JKS argued with his fans’ doubt that JKS has a girlfriend. “When I sang ‘PROPOSE’ in Japan, my fans suspected that I have a girlfriend… To my such lovely fans, I will play ‘PROPOSE’ sung by Lee Sul Ah, showing my feeling *bleah* haha!” In this way, he showed his sense of humor to listeners.

“I want to have a baby soon so as to go clubbing together”
JKS talked about his view on marriage.
JKS said, “I will get married someday. I have a girlfriend living together… It’s a cat though. kkk” In response of his talk, Kim Chang-Ryul said “It’s natural for you to think about marriage as you’ve become 30.” JKS asked him, “Mr. Kim Chang-Ryul, are you happy now?” He answered after a long pause, “Yes, I’m happy.” JKS responded straight, “Your answer was not out soon…” That brought laughter.
JKS said, “I’ve met Kim Chang-Ryul bro after a long time. Seeing his face when he talks about his son aroused a feeling that my father felt the same when I was born… That’s why I came to think that I want to get married soon. I want to be such a father and have my family. I want to lessen the age difference with my child and go clubbing together.”

“I will repay my fans on stage as Asia Prince”
JKS said, “Last year I lived quietly, going to school. However, my sudden disappearance from the limelight might mean a violation of my fans’ expectations who keep supporting me. So, it’s my duty to repay them for love I’ve been given on stage, performing as Asia Prince.”

JKS said, “When I reached 30, there is a difference from before. I started to take medicine for liver. Without medicine, it’s harder for my recovery.” Kim Chang-Ryul said, “It really works for me, too. No hangover now. haha”

JKS confessed, “A bossy image caused stress on me before. I admitted that I bluffed when I was young But, I’m living hard to be a person of substance. But people didn’t have a positive image toward me. It was irritating.”
