It was Jang Keun Suk, of course. He was a cheerful person, calling himself a ‘happy virus man’ and laughing heartily. Jang Keun Suk recently revealed on his YouTube channel that he was diagnosed with thyroid cancer a year ago and that he had successfully completed the surgery, making fans’ hearts flutter.
In a phone interview with My Daily on the 17th, Jang Keun Suk said, “You really don’t have to worry. The surgery went well and the recovery was fast, so I was able to tell you about it,” and shared his recent status.
The following is a Q&A with Jang Keun Suk.
– The surgery went well?
It went well. Very well. Thyroid cancer is an endocrine organ, isn’t it? They said that the progress varies depending on how the incision is made and the size. It was discovered early, so it wasn’t a serious incision. In fact, there are cases where you have to take hormone control medication for the rest of your life. The doctor told me that I don’t have to take it. Now all that’s left is to monitor the condition once every three months. I’m grateful for everything.
– Even though it was an early discovery, you must have felt scared by the word ‘cancer’
I wasn’t too worried because it wasn’t a serious situation or a serious size. At the time, the medical staff told me that I could have surgery within a year. But I thought I should finish my current schedule well. I had a Japan tour until April, so I finished it well and had the surgery in May.
– I think there must have been a lot of things to worry about during the period of treatment?
My condition was important, but I’m someone who has to keep doing something in front of people. Especially when I’m performing, I can’t lose stamina, so all I could think was, “I have to control myself well.” I think I paid a lot of attention to this part.
There were no major inconveniences or situations that were difficult to overcome in my daily life. However, I was careful when I had to show something.
I’m a person who wants to make people happy, not make someone sad.
– I think I didn’t have to talk about the treatment and surgery.
There were such opinions internally. But there was really only one thing. “Who knew I’d get sick?”
After being diagnosed, I also read a lot of articles about people in the same situation. I felt the fear that the word ‘cancer’ brings, so I wanted to let people know that people like me can overcome it.
I hope that those people can see me and smile at least once. I wanted them to think, “I’m not scared at all.” That was my goal. I wanted to give people like me the message, “Don’t be scared. I won!”
-I’m also curious about your plans for your next work or project?
Currently, the number of works produced in our country has decreased. They say that they’ve been cut into a quarter. I always have concerns about my work. As these are difficult times for everyone, we should overcome this and look at it positively.
– One last word
A fan asked me a question on my SNS today. It was, “If you could say one thing to God?” and I answered, it was like, “I won this time too~” I believe in the power of positivity. They say that God only gives humans as much pain as they can handle.
There’s one more thing. I haven’t forgotten to get a health checkup every year since I was 28. I think I need to take good care of myself. I need to exercise every day and not be lazy about taking care of my body.
I know you recover on it but you must careful and take care on it. Reminder your do and don’t to do.. And I’m happy for your positive thinking and God always be with you..
