“Daebak” filming crews talked about the passionate acting of Jang Keun Suk.

In SBS Mon-Tue drama “Daebak” episode 6 aired on the 12th, Daegil (Jang Keun Suk), through his survival instinct, managed to stay alive having fell off a cliff after suffering from broken arms and legs and a knife stab.

Having lost his memory, he was sold as a slave and suffered beatings, and was even thrown into the faeces pit. Encountered a tiger in the mountains when rescuing a girl who was bullied in the middle of the night. Buried in the mud exposing only his face, munching eating crab. To the extent of chewing off a live snake due to extreme hunger.

An actor’s zealous acting could easily be masked in such dramatic scenes and storylines, Jang Keun Suk however displayed his perfect acting.

PD Nam Gun speaks about the stories behind episode 6 mud and snake scenes.

PD Nam through the agency said, “Both the mud and snake scenes were filmed as per the script, it was mentioned upfront during our first meeting with Jang Keun Suk that there will not be fake shots. Jang Keun Suk ironically was very happy and accepted the challenge readily, and felt good during the filming.”

The atmosphere was relaxed and happy during the filming of the mud scene. Prior to munching the crab, they have completed the filming the scene of eating the live snake, hence there is less burden. During the filming of the snake scene, all the production crews were very tensed, on the contrary, Jang Keun Suk would teased the staff to lighten the mood. He actually wasn’t successful in tearing the snake meat off on the first attempt but succeeded on the second, he acted without fear. As soon as that scene was completed, he received applauses from all the production crews.

He also cited Jang Keun Suk as an actor who exudes confidence.

“Jang Keun Suk is an amazing actor, no matter how tired he is physically or mentally, he always stays alert and diligent in his acting. Truly impressed by his humbleness and respect towards all the seniors and the production crews. He depicted the character of Daegil with great dedication. For me coming from the perspective of an audience, I am excited and looked forward to see the transformed Jang Keun Suk going forward”

  1. That scene literally made my jaw drop. He was playing the character very truthfully and honestly. Daegil was starving so he would eat anything to survive even a live snake. Living his character, way to go Oppa!

  2. I wish i could fly right now and give a special bear hug to my dearest sukkie. So happy to be your eel. It needs a very daring heart to do such acts. And all those who complain about suk’s rudeness should know about his behaviour to his staffs and seniors. Very happy to hear all these words which are very very perfect for our ASIA PRINCE. Eels will always support u. Love u my daebak hero.

  3. I just finished watching episode 6…for making Sukkie suffer, I say,” CUT THE WRIST!” It’s payback time. hA hA hA!!!

  4. Daebak☺good to know how good is his work ethics.
Looking forward to watch the next episodes. Your hard work is paying off,our prince. Fighting!!

  5. OMG…I was hurting all over from seeing all scenes in chapter 6! OMG OMG! I cried every time I saw him in that episode! Really, especially the scene when he’s trying to hide and runs into the snake. His eyes so full of fear and uncertainty ohhhh ! What an expression! I think that look in his eyes conveying fear and hunger at the same time: PRICELESS , I forever will hold it in my heart and mind. AWESOME PRINCE!

  7. Guess what I came across while searching for Korean viewers’ comments on the snake-eating scene?! [Source: kkuljaem.blogspot.com]

    1. This scene wouldn’t be possible if he wasn’t passionate in acting. When he caught and ate the snake, I wondered how passionate an actor should be with acting to be able to do that scene. I was glued to the tv screen. It puts Jang Geun Suk in a new light for me, he’s so awesome as an actor.

    2. Dog Poop is gone, only Daegil remains. He became a starving salt pond slave and goes through so much suffering that he had to eat a snake..I didn’t know that Jang Geun Suk is so talented. Daegil is daebak!

    3. Just dropping by here, Jang Geun Suk’s gonna get big.

    4. The best – it was like a scene from a documentary.

    5. Jang Geun Suk earns so much and he could choose to go on a hiatus, adapt a mysterious image and do CF once in a while to maintain his image. He can even live comfortably with the money he earned from doing overseas endorsements…but I like that he’s passionate with what he’s doing.

    6. Reminds me of Choi Jae Sung’s snake-eating scene in ‘Eyes of Dawn’. Jang Geun Suk did such a great job.

    7. I thought he was just gonna take one bite off the snake but he ripped the skin with his teeth and chewed it. I was surprised at the mudflat scene too when he was acting all spiteful. One hour passed by in a blur yesterday.

    • Thank you so much Belle!!
It hurts if u work so hard and do not get satisfactory love from home.
So happy that they finally recognise our Daebak hero.
liked comment 5 the most, very perfect.
